One of the drawbacks of WSDOT's traffic site is that only the current incident list is shown. This current list is quite often edited minute-to-minute, with things left out. This incidents.pl page shows the full history from the last 12 hours in 3 different ways:
Originally just a twitter feed (still found here), this shows the history of the US realm server alerts.
Lots of sites would be much improved if they just dumped all their hikes, fishing holes, merchant partners, and dive bars on a map.
Puts listings from the "apt/housing" section of Seattle Craigslist on a Google map.
Named after the old-time finger utility on *nix, this does a similar thing for Ventrilo servers. You specify the server and port like so (no password needed):
Current posts from Fark, without all the sidebars and ads. This has some CGI parameters you can pass in:
| refresh | Number of seconds to wait before automatically refreshing the page. Useful for just leaving your browser open and automatically update every so often. |
| threshold | Only look at threads/topics that have more than this number of posts. Sometimes, only the flamewars are funny. |
| sorted | Sort the threads by the number of comments in each, from largest to smallest. |
| format | By default HTML is output, but you can also specify "rss" as the format, and point your RSS aggregator at this script. |
| tag_in_title | If you are using 'rss' as your format, then this will cause the Fark tag (the 'obvious', 'dumbass', etc) to be inserted into the RSS <title>. By default, the RSS <title> just has the text of the Fark headline, because the RSS <description> includes the tag image, in addition to comment count and original source link. |
